Volunteer Coordinator
We have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer coordinator who will take a key role in the support and development of our volunteer offer for both the Belper North Mill Trust, based at Archway House, Belper, and The Arkwright Society, based at Cromford Mills. This role is being supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Both Belper North Mill Trust and The Arkwright Society are registered charities, working together to ensure that important stories and local heritage significance are kept alive and celebrated in this part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
Following the closure of the Belper North Mill Museum in September 2022, the Belper North Mill Trust and Belper Volunteer Association maintain a positive presence in Belper through volunteering opportunities, guided tours of the Belper Mills area and educational outreach. A new temporary exhibition of some of the cotton spinning objects from Belper will be developed at Cromford Mills.
Cromford Mills, about 8 miles from Belper, is a bustling site with a heritage visitor centre, including a 3D cinematic Arkwright Experience, a business centre, catering, retail, and an exciting and varied events programme. We have an award-winning educational offer and an enthusiastic volunteer team, who help deliver the visitor heritage offer. All these activities create a beautiful, unique, and vibrant place to work.
We are looking for candidates with excellent communication and engagement skills to support volunteers and the wider team across Belper and Cromford. Successful candidates will demonstrate their skills, experience, and enthusiasm to develop our volunteer teams and enhance the visitor experience.
The successful candidate will be employed by The Arkwright Society, who offer competitive terms and conditions. The role will be based at both Belper North Mills Trust and Cromford Mills to promote the wider UNESCO World Heritage Site and local community links. The Arkwright Society is proud to be an equal opportunities employer and would welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and cultures.
Salary: £21,418 pro rata (part time 3.5 days/ 26.25 hours per week) Fixed term until May 2025.
Closing Date: Monday, 6th November at 5pm
