Head of Engagement
We have an exciting management opportunity in the Arkwright Society for a Head of Engagement who will take a lead role in the development and delivery of visitor and public engagement for the Arkwright Society based at Cromford Mills. This role is being supported by the Heritage Fund.
The Arkwright Society is a registered charity established to preserve the industrial heritage of Cromford Mills, with conservation and education at its heart. Cromford Mills, built by Sir Richard Arkwright in the 1770s and 1780s, is universally regarded as one of the most important heritage sites in the world, and lies within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The mill complex is a large site with a visitor exhibition including the award-winning Arkwright Experience, a business centre, catering, and a busy events and conferencing programme throughout the year. We have an award-winning educational offer for schools and a very enthusiastic and involved volunteer team, who help deliver the visitor heritage offer. All these activities create a beautiful, unique and vibrant place to work. This is an exciting and pivotal time for The Arkwright Society as we want to grow our visitor engagement and educational offer, as well as embark on our next phase of major development for the site’s regeneration.
We are looking for candidates with excellent communication and engagement skills. Strategic leadership, professionalism and creativity are essential to inspire colleagues to drive forward the Society’s ambitious plans. Successful candidates will demonstrate the skills, knowledge and experience to help deliver and grow visitor engagement through our educational offer; support our volunteer and member offer and ensure effective marketing for all activities.
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum + benefits
