Get Involved at Cromford Mills

Volunteer at Cromford Mills

Do you have a few hours to spare? Are you retired and looking to keep busy? A parent with time to spare whilst the kids are at school? If so, Cromford Mills has a volunteering opportunity to suit you.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our brilliant team to help us share the amazing story of Sir Richard Arkwright. There’s no experience required, just a willingness to learn and interact with our visitors. We provide full training and have a handful of benefits for our volunteer team including social events, training and talks, trips, discount in our shop, lunch vouchers, mileage allowance and free parking.

Why does Cromford Mills need your help?

As a charity we have limited resources, but big ambitions and we simply couldn’t deliver everything we aim to do without the help of our volunteers.  Your support is vital to the ongoing development of the site and ensuring our visitors understand its heritage and get the most out of their time here. Today we have around 70 volunteers who contribute regularly across the site. We would love for you to join our team.

Where?

Cromford Mills, Mill Lane, Cromford, DE4 3RQ

(Our outdoor and conservation volunteering takes place in multiple locations, get in touch to find out more)

When?

We’re open every day of the year except Christmas day, and with a variety of roles available, there is always something to get involved with. Volunteering is fully flexible, so you can give as little or as much time as you would like. The Visitor Centre is open from 10:30am – 4:30pm every day of the week. Guided tours run 3 times a day, and events run throughout the year. Even a few hours goes a long way.

What now?

If you like what you see and want to know more, feel free to give us a call and we would be more than happy to have a chat about how you can get involved. Alternatively you can send us an email with any questions you might have.
