Our passionate and experienced volunteer team are ready to lead you on a journey of exploration of our shared heritage. All our tours include an audience with our holographic Richard Arkwright who tells his own story in the iconic setting of the mills he built.

Our Mill Yard, shops and exhibition are all free to explore but our paid-for tours showcase the full story and support our charity.

How do I book a guided tour?

You can book tickets for all tours either online or in the Mill Yard Shop on the day of your visit. For the Mill Manager’s Pass click here. For the Arkwright Experience click here.

What if my group contains more than 10 people?

You can book your own private tour guide if you have more than 10 people in your group and take advantage of our group booking discounts.

The Mill Manager’s Pass

Adult: £14.50
Children (Ages 12–16): £2.50
Under 12s: Free

The Mill Manager’s Pass gives you access to the complete Cromford Mills story exploring how Cromford Mills and the industrial innovations here transformed how we all live and work, forever. This pass includes a guided tour of the Mill Yard by one of our passionate and experienced volunteers, an opportunity to go behind the scenes and ‘meet’ Sir Richard Arkwright himself via our award-winning 3D holographic experience. In addition to your guided tour, your Mill Manager’s pass allows you access to our audio tour taking you into Cromford Village to explore the history of mass production in the village built to house the Mill workers.

This is an annual pass so if you’re short on time, pop back within 12 months and enjoy at your leisure.

Immersive Character Tours

Step into the past with our brand-new immersive character tours at Cromford Mills.

Your tour guide will be an 18th century costumed character who delivers an engaging historic tour from their own unique viewpoint, bringing the story of the world’s first successful water-powered cotton spinning mill to life.

Enjoy a guided journey through the Mill Yard, discovering how Cromford Mills became the birthplace of the modern factory system, with fascinating insights into daily life and the impact of Sir Richard Arkwright’s revolutionary ideas.

Your ticket acts as an annual pass, so you can return within 12 months to continue exploring.

The Arkwright Experience

If you are short on time book to see our unique Arkwright experience with a short scene setting site tour, exploring how the mills changed lives around the world, forever. Then meet Sir Richard Arkwright himself inside the world’s first successful water powered cotton spinning mill with our award-winning holographic Experience.

This is an annual pass so pop back within 12 months and enjoy again at your leisure.
