The main Cromford Mills site, including guided tours, Arkwright's Cafe, Wheatcroft's Wharf Cafe and all shops, will be closed to the public from 4pm on Wednesday 4th November.
The Counting House Coffee Stop at Cromford Canal Wharf will be open daily from Thursday 5th November, 10am to 4pm, offering a selection of takeaway food and drink.
The main mill yard will remain closed to the public until the national lockdown has ended on 2 December, pending government guidance closer to the time. We will announce on our website as soon as we are able to re-open and welcome you all back.
Cromford Canal and Church Walk
The mill car parks will remain open for anyone local visiting the area for exercise and fresh air with their household bubble or four-legged friend. You can explore the area outside the mill walls and take a canal side walk, meander next to the River Derwent, explore our wooden sculpture trail and venture up Scarthin Rock. Please stay local if you are getting out and about and enjoy those places close to home.
Support our local retailers
Some of our onsite retailers are going to be selling their wonderful local products online and are hoping to offer a click and collect service from the mills – we will update our retail section of the website with more information as soon as we can. Please continue to support these independent businesses as much as you can at this difficult time.
We have cancelled all onsite November events, as well as the Christmas Wreath Making and annual Christmas Tree festival.
We will keep the information updated on our events pages of our website. We are contacting all event organisers affected and anyone who has bought tickets for our booked events regarding postponements and refunds.
If you have any questions or queries regarding an event booking please email email@example.com.
Staffing Cromford Mills
There will be staff on site for security and those essential to keep the business running. Where possible members of the staff team will be working from home. If you wish to contact someone please use their direct email or contact the main office via firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01629 823256. We will respond to enquiries, but this may not be instant. We will be updating the website and social media to keep you informed as to what is happening.
Supporting Cromford Mills
This will be a challenging winter for our organisation, as we are an independent charity and heavily reliant on visitor income.
If you are coming for a walk to enjoy the surrounding countryside please pay for parking in the mill car parks, as every pound goes towards keeping the mills running.
If you would like to support us through this period you can purchase a gift voucher for the café / shop or event to use in the future by emailing email@example.com. You can become a member of the Arkwright Society – visit our membership page for more information. If you would like to make a direct donation to the charity then visit our donate page. All donations, however big or small, will help us to look after this amazing place, both now and in the future.
Thank you to you all
We want to thank our amazing staff and volunteer team who worked so hard to successfully re-open the site in July, and thanks to all our visitors who have come and supported us, our charity and our retail tenants. Everyone worked together to make Cromford Mills a COVID secure attraction, and we appreciate everyone’s efforts to adapt to this new normal.
We will miss you all during this closed period and will be keeping our website and social media up to date and will let you know as soon as we can open our gates again.
Take care of each other and see you all soon.
