This Saturday, 18th April, we’re celebrating World Heritage Day at Cromford Mills by offering half-price entry to our immersive character tours.
As part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, we’re proud to share the story of the world’s first successful water-powered cotton spinning mill – widely recognised as the birthplace of the modern factory system.
Step Into the Past – Half-Price Character Tours
To celebrate, we’re offering half-price entry to our immersive character tours, led by an 18th-century costumed guide. Through storytelling, anecdotes, and lived experience, we bring the history of the mills to life and offer a vivid glimpse into the Industrial Revolution.
This is a great opportunity to experience the tours at a reduced rate, whether you’re visiting us for the first time or returning to see the site in a new way.
Simply book online and use the promo code WORLD HERITAGE DAY to receive 50% off.
What is World Heritage Day?
World Heritage Day, also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites, is celebrated each year on 18th April. It recognises and promotes the importance of protecting cultural and natural heritage around the world, encouraging people to explore and appreciate sites of global significance.
The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site is one of the UK’s designated World Heritage Sites, inscribed by UNESCO in recognition of its pivotal role in the Industrial Revolution. Stretching along the River Derwent, the site includes a series of historic mill complexes, worker housing, and transport systems that together tell the story of how modern factory production began.
Here at Cromford Mills, at the heart of the site, visitors can experience where it all started – making it the perfect place to mark World Heritage Day.
