WALK: Cotton, Coal & Countryside

Monday, April 13, 2020

POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

A slightly challenging 5-mile walk, exploring Cromford and its surroundings from on-high.  We will look at and learn about the industrial heritage of the area, whilst enjoying breath-taking views of the beautiful heart of Derbyshire countryside.

1.30 - 4.30pm  (Easter Monday)

The walk starts with a meander through Cromford village, before climbing very steeply up the side of the Derwent Valley to the former Cromford & High Peak Railway.  After enjoying the local panorama, the walk descends the old railway to High Peak Junction and the Cromford Canal. From here the return leg follows the canal, to finish at Cromford Mill.

The paths can also be muddy and slippery after wet weather. To navigate the steep terrain and stiles please wear suitable clothing / footwear and carry a drink with you. Meet outside the Mill Shop at Cromford Mills for the start of the walk.

Tickets are £6 per person and are available online - https://www.wegottickets.com/event/498785/.  Alternatively, you can call 01629 823256 or email us at - events@arkwrightsociety.org.uk  to book.
