Smith of Derby is one of Britain’s largest and oldest clock manufacturers and a major player on the timekeeping world stage. It started with an apprentice: John Smith began his career with the Whitehurst Clock Making company and went on to found his clockmaking business in Derby in 1856.

Martin Butchers of Smith of Derby will give us a brief history of the company and then go on to talk about the restoration conservation and preservation of tower clocks.
