Outdoors Weekend

Saturday, August 24, 2019 to Monday, August 26, 2019

From 24th – 26th August (10am – 4pm), our popular Outdoors Weekend returns to Cromford Mills, promoting some of the fantastic activities in the area that inspire you to go outdoors!

The weekend offers a selection of action-packed activities to get the adrenaline pumping plus adventurous pursuits for anyone looking to get away from the stress of modern life. For those who like a gentler pace we have a woodland experience where visitors re-connect with the environment around us.

Paddle Peak will be hosting paddling sessions taking place on Cromford Canal, providing the perfect opportunity to take to the water.

Mount Cook will be running Archery Tag in the mill yard - A hybrid of archery, paintball and dodgeball; this event will be action-packed. Get ready for the arrows to start flying! Don’t worry as the arrows have a specially designed foam tip, so you can fire straight at your enemies without anyone being hurt.

Explore what lives in our waterways! The Arkwright Society will also be running a Pond dipping activity, encouraging guests to learn more about the entomology of our local waterways.

Adventure Pedlars are setting up camp and will be promoting Bike Glamping, Bike Packing and their tranquil Breath Escapes. Head for the tepee in the yard for more information!

Local adventure specialists Acclimbatize will be bringing their climbing wall activity into the mill yard on the Bank Holiday Monday, offering youngsters the chance to scramble up the tower and enjoy the views from the top. Parents can sit with a drink at a more relaxing height in Arkwright’s Café!

Our woodland experience will feature a live charcoal burn and charcoal drawing craft from Long Way Bank Wood, Wirksworth. Row Spencer will be campfire cooking in the yard alongside spoon carving demos by Paul from Woodsman Crafts.

With more activities being added weekly, be sure to check online for specific event dates and timings across the Bank holiday Weekend.
