Experience ‘Plein Air’ (outdoor) painting under the guidance of artist Ruth Gray.
Taking the mill surrounds as your inspiration spend time observing, sketching, and painting. Learn to understand how light changes what you are seeing and how to capture a live scene.
Upon arrival at the mill yard you will have an individual introduction from Ruth Gray. Social distancing will be observed in line with government guidelines; please wear a face covering. You will then have the opportunity to choose your spot and set up your painting materials either within the historic mill yard or stunning riverside nature area in front of St Mary’s church. Ruth will rotate around the painters, offering tips and guidance as needed.
After the morning facilitated session, use your observations to create a finished piece in your own time either back at home or stay on for the rest of the afternoon. (Please note, the mill yard closes at 5.)
At the end of the session, each participant will go home with an experience of observing and capturing the subtle changes that occur when working outside.
