Cromford Mills’ Scarecrow Festival returns with fun for all the family. Meet the living scarecrows, follow the scarecrow trail and dance away the afternoon whilst enjoying games, crafts and lots more!

Scarecrow Trail – Follow the scarecrow trail and judge which of the scarecrows you think should win first prize! Free prize draw for everyone who completes a judging form. Owls and Parrots – Meet a selection of gorgeous owls and colourful, entertaining parrots and see the mischief they can cause! Discover more about these fascinating birds with talks at 12noon and 2pm.

Wizard of Oz Craft Workshop – Follow the yellow brick road… Make a scarecrow, tin man, Dorothy or lion to take home amongst other fun themed activities. Drop in anytime between 11am-4pm. £3 per child (accompanying adults free).

Scarecrow Ball – Come along and join our scarecrows barn dancing! Be guided step by step through dances suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience or just come and watch. Fun for all ages, drop in anytime between 1:30pm-4:30pm.

Scarecrow Fancy Dress – Come dressed as a scarecrow and enter the free prize draw.

Traditional Games – A variety of games that are fun for all the family.

Pony Rides – Come and see the ponies and have a pony ride (£2).

Petting Zoo – Handle your favourite animals and admire the scary! (£2).

Scarecrow Snacks – Plenty of scarecrow themed treats to choose from including country vegetable or carrot soup, pumpkin pie, chocolate shredded wheat baskets and scarecrow cookies in Arkwright’s Café.

Face Painting (£3) – Barbeque – Guided Tours – Celebrating the Cromford Canal Stalls and Demonstrations – Model Boats – Horse Drawn Canal Boat Trips (departs 11am and 2pm – visit www.birdswood.org to book) – Leawood Pump
